Originally from Red Deer, AB, Linda was a dynamic, engaging and fun-loving individual who delighted in animals (particularly Dachshunds and Elephants) and was adored by many throughout her colorful life. While attending nursing school at the Royal Alexandra in Edmonton, Linda was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis but persevered to become an Operating Room nurse at the Red Deer Regional Hospital. She met and married Ken Towers in 1978, with whom she had two sons (Ryan Towers of Vancouver and Landon Towers of Coldstream) and became an avid quilter as a means of coping with her health challenges.
Following her divorce in 1995, Linda relocated to begin a new life in Kelowna, BC where her warm and gregarious personality attracted many new friends including Edwin McNaught, whom she married in 2008. Together they were very happy, enjoying travel and their favorite card game Bridge until Ed's death in 2020.
Linda courageously battled her deteriorating health in recent years and has now been reunited with Ed, her parents, her sister Patricia, and the numerous pets who brought such joy throughout her life. Linda's ashes will be scattered in Africa, which she visited twice and held very dear to her heart. Linda will be remembered most for her generosity, her sense of humor, and her beautiful smile. Rest in peace Mimmy, we love you.
At Linda’s Request no service will be held . Anyone wishing to honor Linda's memory may consider adopting an orphaned elephant in her name through the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust.
Though here you will no longer be
You'll never be that far from me
For love remains when you depart
To live forever in my heart
