We are sad to announce the passing of our Mom on March 27, 2025, in Kelowna, BC. Marianne is survived by her sister, Margarete, her three daughters, Veronica, Sonja, and Francisca, her son-in-law Francis, her two grandchildren, Marina and Vincent, her three great-grandchildren, Wren, Ellis, and Owen, her nephews Christoph and Robert, and her nieces Elisabeth and Heidi. She is also survived by her stepdaughter, Donna, and stepson, Alan.
Marianne came to Canada from Germany at the age of 19 to marry our Dad, Frank Neuman, and make their first home in Dawson City, Yukon. They later moved to Thompson, Manitoba, where Dad worked for International Nickel Company (Inco) for many years. Outside the home, Marianne worked as a freelance photographer after learning the trade while in Thompson. They were amongst the founding members of the Thompson Ski Club which built the first ski runs and lifts on Mystery Mountain. Marianne and Frank lived in Indonesia twice for periods of several years at a time where Mom loved entertaining, swimming and boating on the local lake, and traveling. When Mom and Dad returned to Canada, they retired to Peachland, BC, and were married for 40 years. Marianne was also married to Frank Steingart for 20 years and lived in West Kelowna. She had a remarkable memory and would remember details about things she bought in Indonesian markets many decades ago. Marianne also loved sewing, gardening, cooking, dancing, camping, fishing, and hunting for wild mushrooms. She will be dearly missed.
We would like to thank all the staff and caregivers at David Lloyd Jones Home, Kelowna, where Marianne spent her last two years.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Alzheimer's Society of BC.
