Lived in Kelowna, BC.
Mary was born in Morse, Saskatchewan, to Emily and George Rogerson. During her childhood, her family moved several times while her father served in the Canadian Army throughout the Second World War and for several years afterward.
After graduating from high school, Mary pursued her passion for education by attending Teachers College in Saskatoon. It was there that she met the love of her life, Allan. A year and a half later, they were married, beginning a remarkable partnership that would span 68 years until Mary's passing.
Mary devoted her life to her family, raising four sons while embracing many roles throughout the years. She was a dedicated teacher, a hardworking farm wife, and later built a career in retail marketing. No matter what stage of life she was in, Mary approached everything with quiet strength, compassion, and unwavering commitment.
Following retirement, Mary and Allan found one of their greatest callings through volunteer service. They generously gave countless hours over many years, first at Stillwood Camp and Conference Centre at Lindell Beach, BC, and later with several organizations in Kelowna. Mary's dedication to serving others continued until just a few months before her passing, leaving a lasting impact on many lives.
Mary will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her devoted husband, Allan; her sons and their families: Roger and Debbie Sawatzky, Randal and Kimberly Sawatzky, Cameron and Dawn Sawatzky, and Wesley Sawatzky; as well as her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, and many dear friends.
A Celebration of Mary's Life will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Mission Springs Church of God.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Central Okanagan Hospice House in Mary's memory.
