On December 11th, we lost one of the good guys in his 86th year and I had the good fortune of being a part of that life for 70 of those years. Merv had a huge zest for life, enjoyed people, which is why he loved his restaurant years. He never judged people – that was my job! He loved new adventures (much to my chagrin) like his flying phase in his Cherokee airplane, so life was never dull. He was a very happy & positive guy and retained his good nature while fighting the dreaded Alzheimer’s disease during his final years. It was such a struggle for him.
Merv was the last living member of the Lepper family having been predeceased by his parents, 3 siblings and scads of nieces and nephews. He always liked to be the last one at the party!!! And now he is at rest and I will miss him sooo much for the remainder of my days. At Merv’s request, there will not be a service, but an informal gathering of his friends and relatives might happen when this current chaos subsides. In the meantime at one of your future happy hours, raise a glass in his memory – he would like that.
I already miss -
Seeing your handsome face
Not being able to give you hugs & kisses
Your firm hand holding mine or you’re ever present
Arm around me
Your enthusiastic welcome of each new day
Your love of life and the people in it
Your love of adventure and most of all
Your love and respect
Till we meet again, Anne
