We are devastated to announce that Micah Joel Johnston tragically passed away on June 26, 2026, at the tender age of 29. There is a deep, unnatural sorrow in outliving your child, and the unbearable heartache left in Micah’s absence has left his parents entirely broken. While we navigate this heavy and difficult grief, we hold fast to the truth that he has been called home to heaven, and we take peace knowing that we will see him again.
Micah was a natural jokester, always up for doing whatever brought joy to the people around him, and he lived with an incredibly deep love for animals. His cat, Meowsers, was truly the love of his life; he regularly brought her to the park, carefully setting up a shaded spot out of the sun just to sit and love on her.
He shared a remarkably close and special bond with his little brother, Dexter, whom he loved fiercely. Micah was his mother's best friend. He was a constant help around the house, always fixing little things, and the two of them shared a regular, cherished routine of taking the dogs out for walks and taking them to the beach. What Veronica will miss most of all are those simple moments, texting him to ask if he wanted to go, and Micah instantly replying, "Yup, when are you coming? Let's go."
Micah will be immeasurably missed by his father, Joel, and Joel's fiancée, Tammy, along with their children, Tiana, her husband Brody, and Deven, as well as his grandma, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Micahs quirky humor, dimple-kissed smile, easy laughter, legendary appetite and thirst for adventure, from kayaks to bonfires, gaming tournaments to bike rides, Micah is irreplaceable in our family and his Spirit will forever hold a warm glow in all of our hearts. He will always be with us and always have a plate at our table.
Micah leaves behind a deep circle of family and friends who loved him intensely and are now carrying his memory forward. Among those who love him and miss him most are his mom, Veronica Schneider, his dad, Joel Johnston, his brother, Dexter, and his best friend, Anthony Skamanis.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to Anthony, whose incredible strength and help during this time has been a profound comfort; he has honored Micah completely, proving himself to be a true brother when it was needed most.
Micah is also held close in the hearts of his auntie Sarah, his auntie Luddy, and his grandma, Sheila Johnston, alongside a large extended family and many of his dearest friends who formed the fabric of his life: Monique K, Sage Wolfe, Nikki C, Jesse H, and so many more whose lives he touched.
A beautiful celebration of Micah’s life will be held at a later date. If you wish to join us in honoring him, or if you have any cherished photos, videos, or stories that could bring comfort to his parents, please reach out to Veronica by text at 250-878-4794
The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to everyone who has surrounded them with love and support during this incredibly difficult time—whether by sending flowers, giving gift cards, helping care for the dogs, cleaning the house, providing meals, visiting, sending texts and cards, spending time with them, or generously contributing toward the burden of Micah's final arrangements.
Your kindness has been a true light in the darkness.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Micah’s memory to an animal rescue of your choice.
"And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away."
Revelation 21:4
It’s not goodbye; it’s see you later our beautiful boy.
