Mom was born on January 24, 1930, and raised in Alameda Saskatchewan. As a young girl, mom got into much mischief. As she grew older she remained game to try anything and was a resilient force. Mom was a great gatherer of people; in her neighbourhood, at the lake, in her retail work, at the Bridge table and on the curling rink. Mom’s family and many friends remember her hospitality and her being the consummate hostess. Mom and Dad raised five children with care and love. We will all miss Mom tremendously.
Mom leaves a legacy of love, family strength and fun for all her family to cherish. Mom’s children are Pam Hayko, Shelley (Doug) Borrowman, Ken (Beth) Truscott, Trent (Teresa) Truscott. Mom’s grandchildren are Kris Hayko (Shannon Peckford), Melissa Hunt-Anderson (Chris Anderson), Natasha (Roger) Hill, Tanya (Graham) Condo, Cuyler Borrowman (Danielle Rebecchi), Jillian Borrowman, Devon Borrowman (Liam Bindle), Cole Truscott, Jeremy Truscott (Bella), Spencer Truscott (Stephanie). Mom has also been blessed with wonderful great-grandchildren: Joey Hayko, Hannah Hayko, Gavin Hunt, Sienna Hunt, Ava Anderson, Rosie Anderson, Kaitlyn Hill, Zachary Hill, Zephyr Borrowman, Remi Bindle and Elias Truscott.
Mom was predeceased by her loving husband Kenneth, who doted on her with love and care, her daughter Holly Schwenneker (nee Truscott), an infant son, her mom and dad Lilian and Edward Slack, her sister Patricia Asbury and her son-in-law Kenneth Hayko.
There will be a memorial to celebrate mom’s life in Alameda, SK and at Kenosee Lake, Sk the summer of 2027.
