

Holmes (nee Evans) Phyllis June. Loving mother, grandmother and close friend, of Oyama B.C., born November 22, 1928, in Athabasca, Alberta, passed away peacefully on Dec 14, 2011, aged 83. Predeceased by her husband Jack and daughter Susan, sisters Dorothy Evans, Carol Allenby, Gwen Dunsby and brother John Evans, survived by daughter Cynthia, son Michael (Glenda nee Braun), daughter Elizabeth (Glen Wittet), grandson Matthew Eyre, granddaughters Diane Hansen and Myriah Saulnier, sister Mary Ball and numerous nieces, nephews and close friends. Phyllis was well known for her big heart, fun spirit and sense of humour. Her love of the Edmonton Eskimos, golfing at Aspen Grove, and volunteering for the Oyama Legion was legendary. She was also known for her strength and courage during her many medical challenges and personal losses. Her spirit and compassion has touched everyone who knew her and will live on in the memories we all share of Phyllis. Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Edwards Catholic Church, 11123 Okanagan Centre Rd E., Winfield, B.C. at 11 am on December 19 followed by a gathering at the Oyama Legion. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Cancer Society or Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated by Phyllis' family.
