It is with great love and deep sadness that we announce the passing of Scott Ian Newall on October 11, 2025, at the age of 72.
Scott moved to Kelowna in 1979, where he built a wonderful life surrounded by family, friends, and the Okanagan community he came to cherish. He was a proud and dedicated Kinsman, always the first to lend a hand, share a laugh, or offer his wisdom. Through his years of service, Scott formed lifelong friendships and made a lasting impact on those around him.
Scott devoted over 35 years to his career at Speedy Glass, where he was known not only for his expertise and work ethic but also for his kindness and sense of humor. His colleagues became a second family, and he took great pride in mentoring others, sharing stories, and making everyone feel valued. Scott’s dedication to his work and the people around him reflected the same integrity and warmth he carried throughout his life.
Scott had an unwavering love for dogs, especially black German Shepherds. His dogs were more than pets – they were family. Whether going for a drive, keeping him company in the garage, or simply resting by his side, they shared in his quiet moments and his laughter.
Scott will be forever remembered for his generosity, quick wit, and countless stories shared by family and great friends. He was an avid reader, loved to play Hearts & Canasta, and a true Hawaiian pizza connoisseur. Scott enjoyed many shopping road trips, collecting everything from ball caps, Swiss army knives, and Royal Canadian Mint coins.
Camping at Kettle River with family and friends over the past 40 years brought Scott great joy. So many nights were spent sitting around the campfire until all hours of the night solving the world’s problems.
Scott was very proud of his family, especially his two sons. He couldn’t wait to talk to anyone about his boys. Scott is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Kim and sons Chris (Jamie) and Kevin (Ashley). He was a proud and loving grandfather to Seth, Peyton, Quinn, Bennett, and Keaton, each of whom brought him great joy and pride. He is also lovingly remembered by his sisters, Trudy (Jens) and Robyn along with many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Scott had such a big presence; his spirit was felt by many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. How did we get so lucky?
A heartfelt thank-you to the staff at Mission Creek Landing for the care and compassion shown to Scott and his family.
Cremation entrusted to First Memorial Funeral Services (1211 Sutherland Ave, Kelowna, BC). A private gathering will be held to celebrate Scott’s life at a later date.
If you wish, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
