It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Elaine Henderson. Elaine was predeceased by her husband Cliff and a sister Kay Mair. She is survived by her sons Mark (Kathy), Paul (Irene), Brad (Mary Jane) and Brent (Karen); grandchildren Michael, Graham, Sarah, John, David and Christopher, great grandchildren Molly, Ava and Ellie; sister Marjorie Mitchell and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, big sister, aunt and friend who will be missed by all that knew her.
Elaine was born and raised in Vancouver. A 1945 graduate of Lord Byng High School she married the love of her life Cliff in 1950 and headed east to Toronto to live with her medical student husband. They moved to Kelowna in 1954 where ,except for a brief 3 year hiatus in Toronto, they lived the rest of their lives.
Elaine’s passions were her husband, children and the home she lived in for 60 years. She was fiercely proud and protective of her family. Her love and devotion to the family were boundless. Additionally, she developed somewhat legendary housekeeping skills. Many visitors to her home were impressed with how neat and tidy it was!
The family would like to thank all the friends, neighbors and relatives who supported her during the past 3 plus years. This was vital in allowing mom to enjoy the last part of her life. In particular, we acknowledge the excellent devoted care Violet Faasse and her home support team gave our parents over the past 10 years. It allowed them to live out their lives in the family home.
A private family interment will take place at the Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery. Elaine requested that there not be a Celebration of Life.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Starbright Children’s Development Centre, or the KGH Foundation.
