Predeceased by her father Stanley Gordon, mother Doris Gordon and husband Ronald G. Geib.
Virginia was born in Baie Comeau Quebec and raised in Granby Quebec – part of the Eastern Townships which she loved and remembered fondly all of her life. After graduating she moved to Montreal and began working in banking. She was a “Drummond Girl”, living in the Julia Drummond Residence where she forged some lifelong friendships. In 1971 she travelled west and settled in Vancouver. There she met and married the love of her life Ronald Geib and was immediately taken into the fold of Ron’s large family. She enjoyed special relationships with her sisters in-law, Teresa and Anne, and her many nieces and nephews.
Professionally, for many years Virginia worked at the Bank of Montreal as a mortgage lender. She retired early, took tax courses and enjoyed working part time during tax season.
Virginia was one of a kind. A real character. Vibrant, opinionated, intelligent, a great cook, story teller and entertainer. She loved crosswords and cryptics, parties and happy hour, fashion and fabulous shoes. She travelled through Europe, Australia, the US & Canada. She had a full life. She did not have children, but she had a lot of family and was a beloved Aunt, Great Aunt, God Mother, Sister In-law and Cousin to many. She also had amazing friends. True, ever lasting friendships that helped to create all of the wonderful stories she told.
Unforgettable and very loved, Virginia will be greatly missed.
A special thank you to Dr. Gerhard Verster for his kindness and grace. And a special thank you also to the staff at Hospice House for their kindness and tender care.
Interment will take place at Mountain View Cemetery in Vancouver, and a Celebration of life will also be held, however due to the current pandemic restrictions it will be a private service with family and invited friends.
