Catherine Anna Callier Polson passed away at the age of 93 at her home in Tool on the evening of July 11. She was born in St. Louis, Missouri on December 16, 1922. She married Vernon Carl Polson in 1941 and they relocated to Dallas in 1952. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1991 and Vernon passed away in 1992.
Catherine and Vernon were charter members of Cedar Creek Lake United Methodist Church. They built a home in the Sport-N-Rest subdivision on Cedar Creek Lake in 1972 and relocated from Dallas. They immediately saw a need for a church in their small new community and joined with other neighbors to create the church, which has grown to become a major part of the Tool community. The Polsons were also charter members of Asbury Methodist Church in Oak Cliff which was founded in the late 1950’s.
She was President of United Methodist Women, belonged to the Women’s Club, and the Literary Club of Cedar Creek Lake. Catherine was an avid bridge player and was the perennial Cedar Creek Bridge Champion playing with her daughter LaDonna.
She is survived by her daughter LaDonna Shields of Tool; her son Roger Polson and wife Cash Edwards of Austin; granddaughter Misty Trammell and husband Wes of Mesquite; great-grandchildren Chad Riedner of Dallas, and Katie Riedner of Austin; great-great granddaughter Ryleigh Riedner of Dallas, and many nieces and nephews.
Catherine and Vernon were lifelong Democrats dedicated to helping those in need and showing compassion for all people equally.
Memorial contributions can be made in the name of Catherine Polson to Cedar Creek Lake United Methodist Church.
