Donald Horace Haynie Jr.

Donald Haynie graduated from Kemp High School in 1960. He married his high school sweetheart, Mary Shelton, on January 3, 1964 at Calvary Baptist Church in Kemp. They were blessed with 57 years of marriage.

Donald was a Master Mason at Kemp Lodge #528. He served as Past Master, secretary and earned his 32nd degree Scottish Rite. He was also in the order of the Eastern Star in Kemp. He was always sponsoring children to the Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. He even sponsored three of his own granddaughters.

In 1992, Donald retired from Texas Power and Light after 29 years of service. In Donald’s free time he enjoyed working in his garage on cars, hunting, and fishing in the great outdoors. The greatest joy he had was being with his family, especially being Papaw to his grandchildren.

He had a strong faith in God which he taught to his family and all that he came in contact with. He was a member of Alpha Baptist Church. Donald had been active in several churches in the area, serving as a deacon, Sunday school superintendent, choir member, and various other roles.

Donald was preceded in death by parents Donald Sr. and Theola Haynie and father-in-law and mother-in-law Melton and Lucille Shelton.

Donald is survived by the love of his life, Mary Haynie; son and wife Jeff and Tammy Haynie; son Duane Haynie; son Dale Haynie and fiancé Melinda Polk; daughter and husband Jan and Craig Stevens; granddaughter and husband Kandyce and Derek Smith; granddaughter and husband Bayleigh and Cody Lawrence; granddaughters Rachaelle Haynie, Gracey Browning, Maddie Haynie, Abbie Haynie, Hannah Polk, Emma Polk; grandsons Bryan Phillips, Cayce Moore, Connor Stevens, Micah Polk; grandson and wife Randy and Hailey Moore; grandson and wife Cameron and Shannon Polk; great-grandsons Draco Smith and Sonny Polk, great-granddaughters Harper and Emma Moore; brother-in-law James Shelton; brother-in-law and wife Derrell and Carmen Shelton; and several nieces and nephews.
