It is with great sadness that the family of Jean M. Caffrey announces her passing on July 25, 2018. Surrounded by family, Jean, a retired U.S. Air Force Captain and Vietnam War Nurse, passed away peacefully after a long, courageous battle with rheumatoid arthritis and a sudden heart complication. Jean was a loving sister, an aunt, grand-aunt and beloved friend to many. She’ll forever be remembered for her devotion to the Lord, strength and wit, which enabled her to find humor, despite her pain. Born on September 26, 1940, Jean graduated from Nardin Academy and the D’Youville College of Nursing, and
received a Master’s in Education from Canisius College. She spent much of her career as a nursing instructor at the former Millard Fillmore Gates Circle Hospital, inspiring hundreds of future nurses. Jean is survived by her sister, Clare M. Schultz; she was the aunt of Robert (Krista) Schultz, Lorey Schultz
(Thomas) Garlick, David Schultz, Jennifer (Albert) Russell and the grandaunt of Zac, Grace, Jacob, Hannah and Mari. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Monday, August 6, 2018 at St. Michael Church, located at 651 Washington St., in Buffalo. www.dengerrobertspernafuneral.com
