

Moira Mahoney of Buffalo, New York, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at the age of 68, after a short illness. Born on March 15, 1957, Moira was a lifelong Buffalonian whose heart and spirit were deeply rooted in the North Buffalo community she loved so well. Moira was the devoted and loving wife of Randy Godding, who predeceased her in November 2021. They shared 21 years of marriage marked by deep affection, partnership, and mutual devotion. A graduate of Holy Angels Academy and Canisius College, Moira built a successful career in the temporary job placement field. Entrepreneurial and hardworking, she ran her own business for several years, earning the respect of colleagues and clients alike for her integrity, determination, and warmth. Moira was known for her loyalty and her remarkable ability to maintain close friendships that spanned decades. Her circle of North Buffalo friends was a source of joy and support throughout her life, and she treasured those relationships deeply. Although she had no children of her own, Moira was a proud and loving aunt who adored her nieces and nephews, taking great pride in their lives and accomplishments. Family meant everything to her, and she showed her love through steadfast support, generosity, and genuine interest in the lives of those she cared for. She is survived by three brothers and one sister: Brian Mahoney (Sheila), Thomas Mahoney, Timothy Mahoney (Suzanne) and Ellen Woodworth (Roger). Moira is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and in-laws. Moira will be remembered for her kindness, her resilience, her strong sense of community, and the quiet grace with which she lived her life. She leaves behind a legacy of love, friendship, and devotion that will be carried forward by all who knew her. A funeral service will be held at St. John the Baptist Church in Kenmore, New York, on January 9 at 10:45 AM. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Nursing Recognition Fund at the Roswell Park Alliance Foundation. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and doctors at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo for their exceptional kindness, compassion, and care.
