

Alice Faye Matthews (83) born in Ellenboro, North Carolina on December 26, 1941, passed away at her home of 50 years in Acworth Georgia on July 19, 2025. Alice is survived by her loving husband, Larry Matthews, adoring daughters Jackie (Charlie) Miles of Woodstock, Georgia, Ronda Crowe of Dallas Georgia, beloved grandchildren Billy Miles, Jeff (Jessica) Miles, Zac Crowe, Kina Crowe, and cherished great grandchild Caleb Miles.
Alice is preceded in death by her parents Thurman and Mattie Whitaker, 11 brothers and sisters, and husband of 15 years Harold Mathis.
Alice was a devout Christian and was a member of Victory Baptist Church for 14 years. Alice loved to write spiritual poems and in her early days played and coached softball, participated in a bowling league, and was a girl scout leader for many years. However, her passion was teaching Sunday school at church and being able to tell everyone about Jesus. Alice worked at Wal-Mart for 25 years, before she retired in 2005.
Alice’s unwavering faith was the cornerstone of her life. She lived as a testament to God's grace, always extending kindness, compassion, love and wisdom to those around her. She truly embodied the love of Christ and leaves behind a legacy of faith that will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
A visitation for Alice will be held Wednesday, July 23, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home, 2950 North Cobb Pkwy, Kennesaw, GA 30152. A funeral service will occur Thursday, July 24, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Victory Baptist Church, 5717 Priest Rd, Acworth, GA 30102. A committal service will occur at Rolling Hills Memory Gardens, 4355 GA-92, Acworth, GA 30102.
