Ben “Big Ben” Milburn Hines III, age 88, of Kennesaw, GA passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026. He was born on December 17, 1937, in Somerset, KY to the late Ben Milburn Hines, Jr. and Altha Hines.
Ben graduated from Fulton County High School and earned his bachelor’s degree from Georgia Tech University. He proudly served his country in the United States Army for two years before receiving an honorable discharge.
Following his military service, Ben began a successful 30-year career with Lanier Business Products, where he served as a Sales Manager until his retirement. After retiring from Lanier Business Products Ben went on to work on the Cobb County Board of Equalization for several years.
Ben was married to his best friend and the love of his life, Joyce Landrum Hines, for 67 wonderful years until her passing on February 5, 2026. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and fellowship. They were blessed with two children, of whom they were immensely proud. Ben treasured traveling with Joyce and their family, especially their beloved trips to St. Augustine, where many cherished memories were made. He also enjoyed boating and spending quality time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
A devoted member of Marietta First United Methodist Church, Ben worshipped faithfully alongside Joyce for many years and was an active participant in the Jack Aaron Sunday School Class. He was also a proud member of the Lost Mountain Kiwanis Club, the Eagle Scouts advisory board, Acworth Masonic Lodge No. 176, and the Yaarab Shrine.
Known for his strong work ethic, loving spirit, and steadfast faith, Ben maintained a close personal relationship with God and served as a shining example of a devoted husband, father, and provider. His legacy of love, integrity, and dedication will live on through all who knew him.
He is survived by his son, Benny Hines (Sonja); daughter, Sally Hines Shavor (Randy); grandchildren Leah, Ben, Molly, Christopher, and Conner; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joyce Landrum Hines.
Visitation will be held on February 23, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home, 2950 North Cobb Pkwy, Kennesaw, GA 30152. The funeral service will follow from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the same location. A committal service will take place from 2:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park, 1861 Dallas Hwy, Marietta, GA 30064.
