Bruce Patrick Cavan Sr.

Mr. Bruce Patrick Cavan Sr. age 65 of Kennesaw died Friday, April 22, 2011. A Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 am Wednesday at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Kennesaw. Fr. Jose Kochuparampil, Parochial Vicar Officiating. Interment will follow at 12:30 in Westview Cemetery.

Born in St. Petersburg, FL. He was a graduate of St. Pius X Catholic High School in Atlanta and The University of Georgia where he was a member of PHI KAPPA THETA . He was a Captain in the Army Corp of Engineers serving during the Vietnam Conflict. After his tour of duty he joined the civilian branch of the Corp as a Geologist on the Gathright Dam Project. In 1978 he took a position with Law Engineering (now MACTEC). While there he managed Law Geoconsult, the Kennesaw Branch, and was National Director of Projects until his retirement in 2008.

He was a founding member at St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church where he was a past president of both the Men’s Club and the Parish Counsel. He coached for the North Cobb Basketball and the Kennesaw Baseball Youth Leagues. He loved discussing the finer points of UGA football and supporting his children.

His wife of 42 years Kathryn Turner Cavan of Kennesaw, Daughter, Erin Elizabeth (Erik) Benner of Norcross, GA; 2 sons – B. Patrick Jr. (Kathryn) Cavan of Mt. Pleasant, SC; John Thomas (Amanda) Cavan of Hermosa Beach, CA

1 Grandson Ethan Benner

2 brothers – Bryan (Cheryl) Cavan of Newnan, GA; Barry (Joan) Cavan of Montgomery, AL

Many nieces and nephews and extended family

The family will receive friends from 6 till 9 Tuesday with a Rosary service at 7 pm at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home in Kennesaw.
