It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that Carol Ann Woerner passed away peacefully on January 7th, 2026, at the age of 88. Carol was born in Waukegan, Illinois to mother Josephine Hatley and father, Hurley Hatley on May 24th, 1937.
She met her beloved husband, Phillip Woerner, while working at American Can Company, and shared 60 beautiful years of marriage before his passing in 2024. In the subsequent years, Carol became the most devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and was loved by all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughter, Diane (and husband Mike), her son, Mark (and wife Deltsey) and her three grandchildren, Nicole, Emily (and husband Evan), and Riley, as well as her great-granddaughter, Grace.
In her free time, Carol loved to bake delicious treats, spend time with her family, and read countless books. Previously an avid painter, her fondness for doing arts and crafts was something she shared with her grandchildren. In addition to crafting together, her grandchildren cherished their visits to Nana’s house where the waffles were endless, pretend-play felt real, and the love was immeasurable.
While her children were growing up, she spent time working as a florist making beautiful, elaborate arrangements, which she continued to make for friends and family well after moving on from the floral shop. Carol’s eye for beauty and creativity was something to be admired. Though she had many hobbies she was passionate about, nothing topped her dedication to being a homemaker. The love she gave to her family through her many acts of service to them will live on in each of their hearts and stands as a reminder of her selflessness.
Carol had one of the kindest souls, with a surprising spitfire attitude if you were lucky enough to know her well. She always managed to make her family laugh with her retelling of old stories and quick-witted responses. Carol was truly one of a kind and she will be missed by her friends and family more than words can say.
A memorial service to celebrate her life and honor her memory will be held January 13th, 2026 at Winkenhofer Funeral Home. There will be a visitation at 10:00, with the service following at 11:00. A reception will be held at 12:15 at the Somerset Clubhouse in Towne Lake.
May her soul find everlasting peace and love as she is reunited with her husband Phil, and her Holy Father.
