Charlie passed away in the early afternoon on June 25, 2025. As much joy and happiness as he brought to each of us in this world, I can tell you with great confidence that he is with his Lord and Savior now.
Charlie was born in Logan, West Virginia on December 23, 1937. He married his high school sweetheart, Jean Steele, in February 1958 and relocated to Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 1959. Charlie and Jean moved to Blairsville, Georgia in August 1980.
Whether you knew Charlie as a friend, colleague, or family member, take time to mourn him but be certain to celebrate his life and what you were able to share together.
I also ask that you pray for his adult children who lost their dad today. His wife, Jean, passed away over four years ago and there was not a day that went by he didn’t talk about her.
Since 1972, Charlie has owned Easterling’s. In his notes he wrote, “I’m not at home here, but this is where I am most comfortable and spend my days. I have my favorite brushes, sprayers, and cup guns. They greet me each day as I walk through the door. They fit my hands well. We create great finishes together.”
Charlie had his favorite finishes too. He could make a piece of plywood look like a stack of bricks or a stucco wall and his old world art finishes could take you back in time.
For Charlie, his work was never about the paycheck. His work has always been about taking it to the next level and creating something as unique and individual as the customer receiving the finished product.
Charlie proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1957-1962.
He is survived by his children Derek Easterling, Elizabeth Wheeler, Lisa Gibbs, Bryan Easterling, a dozen grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and his sister Ann Pritchard.
Dad, we love you!
