Cleo worked as an administrator at the U.S. Postal service and Social Administration and retired in 1995.
She married Robert E. Deason in 1982 and was with him until he passed on January 10, 2015. During their marriage they loved to travel which included cruises to Costa Rica, Mexico and other parts of the Caribbean. They also traveled to many of the National Parks in the U.S. One of their favorite hobbies was cooking together, they made delicious dinners for family and friends. They both also enjoyed hiking and camping, two of their camping trips included white water rafting. During the latter years of their marriage she spent most of her time as a caretaker for Robert.
Her last couple of years were spent in Winter Haven, Florida, with her boyfriend Howard Morrison. Howard was a great man who took care of her as her Dementia and Alzheimer's disease started to affect her brain and body. Recently we went on a trip to Washington D.C and Gatlinburg, Tennessee with my wife Donna, Howard and Cleo, this was a memorable trip where we all got to talk and relive old memories of our lives and how fortunate we all are to live in the USA.
She was a spiritual woman who attended church on a regular basis, she tithed to the churches she attended and loved reading the Bible. Her favorite verse was II Corinthians 5:17. She also used the Bible to guide her through life's many situations. To manage anger she liked Mathew 5:22 and 5:39, concerning enemies Mathew 5:44, fellowship John 1:6 & 7, prayers answered Mathew 7:7-11 and Luke 11:9 & 10, proof of Christ's Return John 14:1-3. In addition, she did volunteer work at many different churches. She had a special heart for helping the less fortunate.
Cleo enjoyed reading and among her favorite authors were Robert Crais, Richard Paul Evans, Susan Crandall, and John Gresham.
Cleo had many friends and cherished each one of them. She was the kind of person who loved to have fun, was willing to take a chance and never met a person who couldn't be her friend. She respected and had compassion for everyone.
As a mom she always had love for her family. She gave great advice and was always there for her husbands, children and grandchildren, many, many, times putting their needs ahead of hers.
As a youth growing up she taught me to be open minded and to treat all people with respect no matter who they were or where they came from.
Also, she made the best Spaghetti and Meatballs on the planet. I remember eating until I was miserable because that's how good it was.
Mrs. Deason is preceded in death by her husbands, Robert Deason and Henry J. Maini, and her oldest son Victor L. Maini. She is survived by her youngest son Keith and (Donna) Maini, and her brother Donald Whitling of Taccoa, Georgia, and her granddaughter Kelly Betz of Lutz, Florida, and Kelly's husband Tim who are the parents of her great grandchildren Austin and Beckett Betz.
A memorial service for Cleo will be held at a later date.
