OBITUARY
Dorothy Clare Long
7 September, 1935 – 7 January, 2021
Dorothy passed peacefully on 7 Jan 2021, surrounded by family in prayer, to share eternity with our Heavenly Father. She is one of nine children of deceased Mr & Mrs JJ Higgins from Omaha NE, and beloved spouse of deceased Air Force veteran Neal A. Long. She was a devout Catholic, a devoted bride, a loving mother of five, grandmother of 12 and great grandmother of eight. She was a life-time gold-master duplicate bridge player/teacher, a pianist, an ice-skater, an avid reader, and a talented writer who enjoyed an active social life. She thoroughly enjoyed living on the beach, which included hosting family and friends and leading the rosary before attending daily Mass. She also enjoyed traveling the world, solving mysteries, building puzzles, attending theater and partaking in, or hosting, fine dining events. Dorothy is survived by her sister Eleanor, her brother Danny, her daughter Sarah and family, sons Louis and John and their families, and widowed daughter-in-law Vicki and family, Although she will be sorely missed, we are grateful her suffering is over and comforted in knowing she will be joining her heavenly family, including her son Daniel and daughter Jennifer.

I had the pleasure of being Mrs. Long's pharmacist at Island Pharmacy on Tybee Island, GA.
She was very proud of her children. Her love for her family was evident in everything she did.

Jim and I send our prayers and deepest sympathy to you, Doti's family. She was our neighbor on Tybee and we enjoyed talking with her about her current bridge games, our shared joys of St. Michael's parish, and our family updates. She obviously loved all of you dearly. We miss her on Tybee.
Our prayer for you is that you will find comfort in memories of wonderful times spent with her.

When I was young, it was a special day when our family would spend the day together with Aunt Dorothy and her wonderful family. We are deeply saddened by her passing. However, we celebrate the life of your mother and we know she will be watching down from Heaven. Please accept our humble prayers and sincere condolences
