

Mrs. Frances Elizabeth “Mickey “ Tomblin passed away Monday, July 28th, 2014 in Acworth, Georgia. Mrs. Tomblin was born March 5, 1927 in Columbus, Georgia to Ellen and William Robinson and was a lifelong resident of that city until she moved to Acworth in 2002. She is predeceased by her husband, James (Jim) Tomblin , as well as her parents and three sisters (Ruth Frazier, Mary Spears, and Ila Nevels).
Mrs. Tomblin leaves behind two daughters, Teresa Paris and husband Richard of Acworth, Georgia, and Leslie Blakely and husband Randy of Nashville, Tennessee. In addition to three grandchildren, Shannon Fields, Jason Paris, and Benjamin Blakely, and four beloved great-grandchildren, she is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Peggy Bowers of Peachtree City, Georgia and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Tomblin was a 1944 graduate of Jordan Vocational High School where she was named “Most Athletic Girl” as a senior superlative. She and her husband were very active on JVHS Reunion Committees. She completed her secretarial career after serving the Miss Georgia Pagent, Inc. for many years.
Mrs. Tomblin was an avid sports fan that enjoyed her evenings watching the Atlanta Braves and SEC football on Saturdays.
In addition she was a life long member of Rose Hill Baptist Church.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 2nd, at Park Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the home of her niece, Mrs. Susan Binns.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Columbus State University Schwob School of Music or Rose Hill Baptist Church.
