A devoted family man, a joyful encourager, and a lifelong servant of others, Frank's life was a tapestry of faith, love, and service. A graduate of Northern Valley Regional High School in Demarest, New Jersey, Frank pursued his passion for history at UCLA in Los Angeles, CA earning a BA before following a higher calling into ministry. He obtained his Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry from Drew Theological School in Madison, New Jersey, and went on to faithfully serve both United Methodist and independent congregations throughout Central Pennsylvania. Frank, alongside his cherished wife Barbara, co-founded Safe Harbor Ministries, a beacon of hope for many.
Since 2020, he had been an active and treasured member of New Beginnings Methodist Church, where his vibrant spirit and wise counsel touched countless lives. He found immense joy in simple pleasures—watching the birds, tending to his garden, and spending time with his family and friends. A fun-loving soul with a kind heart, Frank was an encourager, a teacher, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and a loyal friend to all who knew him. He lived a life marked by compassion, generosity, and grace, always reaching out to those in need with open arms and a warm smile.
Frank would tell you that all of this, as important as it has been to his life and work, is of relatively small value when evaluated next to the salvation that he received as a gift from the Lord Jesus Christ to Whom he has gone to be with for all eternity. He will be joining his wife, Barbara, and his son, John, who have gone before him. There are a lot of people Frank is hoping will receive Jesus as their personal Savior and will be joining him too.
Frank is survived by his daughter, Tamara “Tammy” Pile & husband James; daughter-in-law, Naomi Croyle; sister, Helen Klein & husband Ed; grandchildren, Micah Pile, Brennen Croyle & wife Lexi, Trey Pile, and Amber Croyle & husband Christian; niece, Catherine “Kate” Klein; and many of Barbara’s relatives who have treated Frank like a close family member. Frank is preceded in death by his loving wife Barbara of over 55 years and his son, John Croyle.
Frank leaves behind a legacy of faith and love that will live on in the lives of his family and the many whose paths he gently and powerfully touched. He was a good provider, a wonderful role model, and above all, a man of deep integrity and unshakable faith. He will be dearly missed, but his laughter, lessons, and love will continue on.
