To Pat and Family, I just found this tribute page for Jim.  Although I didn't know him well, he was always a friendly, cheerful guy when I saw him.  I know he's in a better place and I share in your sorrow and your loss.  It is a lovely picture of you both.

I called James O'Donnell my cousin. We met years ago due to our mutual passion for searching and recording our family history. He had an absolutely amazing memory and told me many stories about our ancestors from Ireland. I had the pleasure of meeting him once and we often shared information (He had MUCH more than I), but we enjoyed the journey together. I will miss his friendly welcoming manner and sharing spirit. JAMES O DONNELL WAS ONE OF A KIND. HE WAS A GREAT ASST. DISTRICT MANAGER AT WESTERN UNION , AND A WONDERFUL HUMAN BEING. HE REMEMBERED MY DAD, PATRICK NEVILLE , WHO WORKED PART TIME AS A BARTENDER, ON THE UPPER EAST SIDE, IN A IRISH GIN MILL. AT THIS TIME, LATE 1950S , 1960S, THIRD AVE WAS LINED UP WITH THESE IRISH BARS, A GREAT PLACE FOR SOME FOR GOOD  FOOD, AND THE LATEST NEWS ON HOW EVERYONE ONE WAS DOING.. JIM, ALSO CALLED JOD, WAS PROUD TO HAVE SERVED IN THE US NAVY AND WAS ON BOARD THE USS ORISKANY WHEN THEY MADE THE MOVIE: THE BRIDGES OF TOKA -RI. HE RELATED  HOW THE ACTOR MICKEY ROONEY WOULD MIX WITH THE CREW, AND THEY ALL SHARED  A FEW LAUGHS. HE WQAS ONE OF THE REGULAR GUYS. HE RELATED HOW MANY TECHS THAT WORKED FOR WESTERN UNION CAME FROM THE SAME AREA, AND HE KNEW MANY OF THEM.  I CONSIDER IT AN HONOR TO HAVE KNOW HIM.  GOD BLESS AND KEEP YOU,JIM, ON YOUR JOURNEY HOME
