

James Lisbon Trowell, age 92, moved on from this life on Sunday, September 28, 2025. He was born in Lakeland, Georgia on August 30, 1933, to the late Henry Lawrence and Rosa Lee Trowell. James served his country proudly in the United States Army as company clerk stationed at Fort McPherson, Atlanta and Camp Gordon, Augusta (Fort Eisenhower).
James graduated high school in 1951 and went on to attended Southern Business College in Atlanta. After completing his education James worked for Southern Railway Company (Norfolk Southern) for many years until his retirement. In his retirement he rediscovered a love for farming; something he was familiar with from his childhood. He would raise cattle and do many different things around the farm. James enjoyed the outdoors and always kept himself busy. He was a member of Smyrna First Baptist for many years, and in later years attended Tabernacle Baptist Church in Carrollton, Georgia.
James is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Lois Trowell, brothers; Leo, H.L., Verlyn and Bobby Trowell, and sisters; Gertrude Blalock and Myrtle Ruth Mathis.
James is survived by his son, Roger Trowell (Heather), grandchildren; Austen Trowell (Madeline), and Jorden Trowell (Ansley), and two great-grandchildren; Charlotte and Ellerie Trowell.
James was a loving and devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and had the honor of knowing him.
A visitation for James will be held Saturday, October 4, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM with the service to follow at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home, 2950 North Cobb Pkwy, Kennesaw, GA 30152. The committal service will follow at Pine Ridge Memorial Park, 2950 Cobb Parkway North, Kennesaw, Georgia 30152.
