Mr. John Cameron Eldridge, age 85, of Kennesaw, GA.,passed away at his home on Monday. Born in Ashburn, Georgia, he was a long time resident of the Atlanta area where he was one of the longest practicing Opticians and Hearing Aid Dealers in the state. A former Chairman of the State Board of Opticians, he practiced in Atlanta for over 55 years. He is predeceased by his parents Emma (Smith)and John B. Eldridge, his sister Florrie A. Bradley, and his brother Clarence W. Eldridge, all formerly of Macon.
A WWII Army veteran, he was a SSGT. in Patton’s Third Army, receiving twoPurple Hearts and a Bronze Star. He is survived by his daughter Linda E. (Doug) Calhoun, his three granddaughters, Jennifer C. (James ) Ward, Jessica C. Escue, Joanna C. Calhoun, one great-granddaughter Mara Ward, his devoted companion Billie Ann Suddeth, and much loved nieces and nephews Funeralwill be held Friday February 4, 2011 at 11:30 am from the Chapel of Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home Kennesaw, Ga., with Pastor John Harris and James Ward officiating. Burial will follow in the Rolling Hills Memory Gardens Acworth, GA. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
