He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Billie Kitchens Stephenson; three daughters: Martha Lynn (Tony) Gordon of Kennesaw, GA, Cynthia Kay (Tim) Hicks of Dallas, GA, and Cheryl Elaine (Jeff) Farmer of Madison, AL; seven grandchildren: Stephanie (Chris), Shelby, Kaylin, Ryan, Chris, Amber (Joey), and Tristin (Brent); and one great-grandchild, Lily.
Bill served our country honorably as a Captain in the Army of the United States, and continued his service as a member of the American Legion. He was a longtime member of Kennesaw Masonic Lodge No. 33. He also held two college degrees: a BS in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Georgia and a BS in Electrical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He retired from Lockheed Georgia after a 33 year career as an Electrical Engineer. His hobbies included Sudoku, camping, fishing, gardening, playing guitar and mandolin, watching western movies, computer work, bargain hunting and recording thousands of movies; however, nothing compared to the joy he received from family gatherings.
His burial will be held Monday, July 2, 2018 at 10:30 am at Georgia National Cemetery, 1080 Scott Hudgens Drive, Canton, Georgia 30114.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of John William "Bill" Stephenson, Jr. to the American Heart Association.
