Our beloved, Kenan Clay Moore-Birt, son of Sandi M. Moore and Frank L. Birt Jr., began his life journey on October 20, 1998 in Austell, GA. Straight from Cobb General Hospital in Austell for the first 3 months of his life, Kenan and his mom Sandi went to live in Auburn, Alabama with his beloved grandparents, James and Carolyn Moore. So, Kenan considered Auburn his first and second home.
Kenan loved going to school and learning. He was so excited to start kindergarten and especially to be able to ride the school bus like a big boy to Lewis Elementary School in Kennesaw, GA. The excitement of riding the bus faded after a few years but Kenan continued to excel academically. Since kindergarten, Kenan received class awards for his writing skills and other subjects. Kenan’s true gift was communications. He started talking at the age of 1 ½ and completely skipped baby babble, speaking in clear and complete sentences as a little “alpha” male child. On March 17, 2010, Kenan received the President’s Education Award signed by President Obama in recognition of outstanding academic excellence. Kenan continued to excel in academics, taking accelerated classes throughout middle and high school and graduating from Allatoona High School in Acworth, Georgia on May 24, 2017.
After high school, Kenan attended Chattahoochee Technical College in the Industrial Electrical Technology Program on the HOPE Scholarship and Linked Up Church Scholarship. Kenan earned his Associates degree as an Electrical Maintenance Technician. Kenan also earned a paid internship at The Clorox Company while attending Chattahoochee Tech. In February 2022, Kenan would go on to further his career as an Electrical Technician at the Chemence Company in Alpharetta, GA.
Kenan loved sports and started watching Sports Center in the mornings before school as a 5yr old. The sport that Kenan truly loved the most to play was basketball, basketball, and more basketball. He started playing as a 5 year old all the way through middle school and high school at the YMCA. There was a couple of seasons of football sprinkled in too.
During Kenan’s last year of high school, he started writing gospel rap and buying home studio equipment to produce and record his songs. It was a seed and a challenge his mom Sandi had given him in middle school. Kenan’s favorite artist was “Gucci Mane”. His mom told him that his lyrics where negative and challenged Kenan to write his own “positive” rap. Kenan really wasn’t feeling the song writing idea at first. But he matured and reconsidered song writing at age 18 and went all in 110%. Kenan wrote 100+ songs in a short period of time. He has shared many songs with his family and friends but many songs he guarded as his private time with God. Today Kenan left a legacy of several hundred music recordings for his biggest fan, his mom Sandi, to keep his memory alive and keep him close at heart.
Kenan found the Love of the Lord God and confessed Christ as savior as a pre-teen and was baptized at Faith Christian Center in Smyrna, GA. Kenan later became a member of “The Plug” youth ministry at Linked Up Church in Powder Springs, GA. Kenan’s love for God and his desire to study the word of God for more wisdom was apparent. And after graduating high school, Kenan wanted to serve God through the youth ministry. So, Kenan became the youngest team leader in “The Plug”. Kenan’s genuine love, generosity, and compassion for his family, friends and extended church family is the legacy that Kenan leaves behind to cherish forever.
On Monday July 11, 2022, Kenan answered the Master’s call and exchanged life for eternity. “Well done my good and faithful servant!”
Kenan was dearly loved and cherished, and will be missed by: parents Sandi M. Moore and Frank L. Birt, Jr; maternal grandparents Carolyn and James Moore; deceased paternal grandparents Mattie and Frank L. Birt, Sr.; brothers Melvin and Kelvin Birt; aunts Terri Ford, Kelli Moore, Janice Birt and Jeanette Birt; uncles Steven Moore, Timothy Birt, and Ricky Birt; two cousins as siblings, Morgan and Mia; a host of other cousins, relatives and friends.
In life we loved you dearly,
In spirit we love you still,
In our hearts you hold a place,
No one else will ever fill.
The family truly appreciates all the expressions of love and concern during our most difficult time.
