Lillian Richard Greer

Tippy Greer stepped into Eternal Glory with our Lord on Tuesday, October 7, 2025. She was 95 years old. In keeping with her true personality and her calm nature, she left us peacefully, without pain or duress. Her unwavering faith in God and her tremendous love of family remained steadfast until the moment she knew that Jesus was there to take her home.

Her life’s journey – one of wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, Sunday School teacher, entrepreneur, business woman, chef extraordinaire, seamstress, techno-geek, dominoes shark, and a pretty good East Coast Shag dancing partner – was grounded in faith, commitment, and joy. She was a remarkable student of life, forever adding books to her already-overflowing library, always seeking to improve, eager to learn, willing to experiment, a respecter of old traditions but willing to go rogue if a situation demanded it. She lovingly encouraged family and friends to never stop growing, never stop dreaming, and never stop learning.

Our hearts ache at her absence, but rejoice in the knowledge that death is not the end, but instead, a glorious beginning. We know she has been welcomed Home with these words: “Well done, thy good and faithful servant.”

Tippy is survived by her husband of over 77 years, Edward F. Greer; her daughters Susan Greer-Mote and Peggy Greer Gibbons; her son John Edward Greer; her grandchildren Natalie Miller (Dave), Stephen Gibbons (Emily), her great-grandchildren Will, Amelia, and Joseph Gibbons, and Lara and Luka Miller; sister-in-love Mary Ann Camp; and many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews throughout Georgia, Texas, and North Carolina.

She was preceded in death by her father, James G. Richard (1932); her mother Mattie Bryant Richard Tierce (1996); her step-father T. C. Tierce (2000); son-in-law, Steve Gibbons (2004); and her sister Pearl Richard Lane (2008).

Tippy’s Celebration of Life, both visitation and service, will be held Monday, October 13, 2025 at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home. The family will be receiving friends at a visitation from 12 noon until 1:30 p.m. Her Celebration of life Service will be at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel at Winkenhofer.
