With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Lisa Kym Burkhart (née Darcy), who left us far too soon at the age of 57 on Thursday, April 17, 2025, in Port Orange, Florida. Lisa was born on August 8, 1967, in Providence, Rhode Island, and spent most of her life on Long Island, New York, before moving to Florida in 2022. Known for her quick wit and boundless humor, Lisa had a remarkable ability to make people laugh and feel like old friends. She had the gift of gab and was a true people-person, with a heart big enough for everyone she met—Lisa never met a stranger. Her warmth, humor, and infectious personality made her a beloved friend, daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother.
Lisa will be lovingly remembered by her three children: Thomas Burkhart of Queens, New York, and Mallory and Tristan Thomas of West Islip, New York; and her cherished grandson, Antonio. She loved her family deeply and fiercely, always holding them close to her heart. Just days before her passing, Lisa experienced the profound loss of her mother, Barbara Jean Darcy, on April 5, 2025. She is survived by her loving father, James C. Darcy; her siblings, James Darcy of Kansas City, Missouri, Matthew Darcy of Roswell, Georgia, and Heather Wadsworth of Ball Ground, Georgia; and their families, who will miss her dearly.
A visitation will be held at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home, 2950 Cobb Pkwy, Kennesaw, GA, on Friday, May 2, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A funeral mass will follow at Transfiguration Catholic Church on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at 1:00 p.m.
