Maria Teresa, "Teresita" Fernandez, age 82, of Acworth, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, January 19, 2022. Teresita was born in Cuba on August 8, 1939 to Elia Romero and Francisco Machado. She was a loving and devoted wife to her husband Oscar for 60 years, loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend. She came to the United States with her husband in 1961 and together, they started a new life. She had a talent for working with large number sets and applied these skills in her work at a paper company and academic publishing firm. Teresita was a great cook, and could cook the most delicious paella and black beans you would ever taste. She was handy with everything from tools to cameras to computers. She enjoyed working outdoors and gardening. She loved doing jig-saw puzzles, reading mysteries, taking long driving trips, and bowling. Teresita was outgoing, generous, and purposeful. She had many friends and she was a member of a Seniors Group at St. Catherine's Catholic Church.
Teresita is survived by her husband, Oscar Jesus Fernandez; son Antonio Fernandez (and his wife Heidi), daughter Eileen Fernandez (and her husband Stewart), brother Carlos Machado (his wife Nilia), and grandsons Andrew, Matthew and Michael.
A funeral mass will be held at 11 am Friday, January 28, 2022 at Saint Catherine of Siena Catholic Church Kennesaw, Georgia.
