

Marie Odilia Chery was called home to be with the lord on June 30, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on October 28, 1938 in Jeremie, Haiti to Eltima Fanor and Maria Fanfan. She is preceded in death by her parents, Eltima Fanor and Maria Fanfan; and husband, St. Jean Chery. Marie is survived by her children, Jasmine Fanor, Nicel August, Marie Daniella Besson, and Odine Chery; brothers, Cheron Fanor and Ogrey Fanor; sister, Osanah Fanor; 10 grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Odilia carried the warmth and spirit of her homeland throughout her remarkable 31 years in the United States.
Odilia was a woman defined by her gentle and calm demeanor, always ready to extend a helping hand. Her tireless willingness to assist others, whether through a kind word or a selfless act, left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered. She embodied a deep and unwavering love for helping people, a quality that resonated throughout her life.
A devout disciple of christ, Marie's faith was a cornerstone of her existence. She loved the Lord with all her heart and found immense joy in singing for christ, her voice a testament to her profound spiritual connection.
Marie's love for children was known within her church community, where she was widely known and adored for babysitting countless children. Her nurturing spirit provided comfort and care to many families.
Beyond her spiritual and community contributions, Marie was a truly gifted cook. Her culinary journey began in Haiti, where she honed her skills working in the national palace in Port-au-Prince, during the reign of president Francois Duvalier. These talents continued to grace her family's table, and she was especially celebrated for her exceptional pikliz.
Marie Odilia Chery's life was a beautiful symphony of devotion, generosity, and unwavering faith. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 11:00 AM. Visitation with the family will begin at 10:00 AM and continue until service time.
Interment to follow at Pine Ridge Memorial Park, 2950 N. Cobb Pkwy., Kennesaw, GA 30152.
