Patsy Keesling Carrier, 91, of Acworth, Georgia, was welcomed home by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 31, 2026. She was born on December 16, 1934, in Bristol, Virginia, to Kelly B. Keesling and Dorothy Keesling.
Patsy was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved son, Robert Kelly Carrier.
She grew up and attended school in Bristol, Virginia, and later attended Virginia Intermont College. On August 22, 1957, she married John Robert Carrier of Bristol, Tennessee. Shortly thereafter, they moved to Lubbock, Texas, where John served in the United States Air Force. Early in their marriage, Patsy and John lived in many locations as military life took them wherever they were needed.
In September of 1960, Patsy was blessed with the first of her two children, a son, Robert Kelly Carrier, born in Bainbridge, Georgia. In May of 1963, her second joy arrived, a daughter, Susan Kay Carrier Hughes.
Patsy was the proud grandmother of three grandsons: Matthew Kelly Carrier (Melissa), Brandon Kenneth Carrier (Jill), and Kyle Aaron Carrier (Tara), and the cherished great-grandmother of Parks Carrier, Nora Kate Carrier, and Grace Carrier. She was affectionately known as “Gran” by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was also blessed with a loving daughter-in-law, Kenya Carrier, and her husband, Bobby West. Her son-in-law, Alan Hughes, was her favorite competitor in family card games, whether on trips or during game nights.
Patsy retired from the Cobb County School System and volunteered with WellStar Kennestone Hospital for over 20 years. She loved her church, her family, and her friends, and she truly never met a stranger. She especially enjoyed camping, cruising, card games, and most of all, celebrating Christmas with her family.
In addition to her husband of 68 years, John Robert Carrier, she is survived by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; her sisters, Nancy K. Brickey of Acworth, Georgia, and Kitty McBride of Louisville, Kentucky; as well as several cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Building Fund of Kennesaw First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1538, Kennesaw, GA 30156-8538, or to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758571, Topeka, Kansas 66675.
