Ray lived life to the fullest and was known for his genuiness, sense of humor, and his colorful fashion sense.
He was the son of the late Gene Silva, Tommie Netzell, and his step-father Francis Netzell. He was a special part of many lives, most especially his children Joshua Lane, Erica Jones, and Hannah Silva, and his grandsons Devin, Levi, and Grayson Lane, and sister Connie Lee. He married his best friend Donna in Las Vegas on New Year's Eve 1993 and spent the rest of his life showing her the meaning of true love.
Ray was a roofer, general contractor, fisherman and Nascar fan. He enjoyed building, breaking and fixing things, and was always busy with multiple projects. His favorite place to be was sitting in a boat with a fishing pole.
Ray was diagnosed with colorectal cancer in 2015, and will be remembered for the grace, determination and humor he maintained throughout his journey. You would often find him outside mowing the grass or working on his latest project while wearing a chemo pump.
His family would like to thank NW GA Oncology Center, Dr. Raul Oyola and Kimberly Oberstein, Dr. Christina Wu and the staff at Emory University Hospital, and his beloved Nurse D.J. We also want thank our incredible village who has wrapped us in love and stood by us during this difficult time.
Ray was a doggie daddy, fast food connoisseur, and all around magical human being. This world is a brighter place because of him.
Visitation for family and friends will be held at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home in Kennesaw on Thursday December 27, between the hours of 6-8pm. Funeral service in the funeral home chapel will take place on Friday, December 28 beginning at 11am with burial to follow at Kennesaw Memorial Park in Marietta.
