Born on February 23, 1941, in Atlanta, Georgia, Robert was the son of Talmadge and Lillian Hester. He attended West Fulton High School before continuing his education at Emory University and later graduating from the Emory University School of Dentistry. Following graduation, he proudly served his country as a Captain in the United States Air Force, practicing dentistry during his service.
In 1963, Robert married his high school sweetheart, Glenda Robinson, beginning a lifelong partnership built on love and devotion. Together, they raised three sons and created a close-knit, loving family.
After completing his military service, Robert became the first dentist in Kennesaw, Georgia, where he faithfully served the community for 31 years. Known affectionately as “Dr. Bob,” he was a kind, caring, and trusted dentist who made a lasting impact on generations of patients.
Above all, Robert cherished his family. He took great joy in teaching his sons and grandchildren life skills and hobbies he loved—hunting, fishing, shooting, boating, and working on trucks and tractors. His legacy lives on in the values he instilled and the memories he created with those he loved most.
Robert was a devoted husband and father to his sons: Bruce Hester (Kim), Mark Hester, and David Hester (Diane). He was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren: Andrew Hester (Shelby), Kara Johnson (Mike Johnson), Austin Hester, Braden Hester, Brock Hester, and Ethan Costello. He was preceded in death by his brother, William Hester; his sister-in-law, Esther Hester; and his
daughter-in-law, Sandy Hester.
Robert was a faithful member of Kennesaw First Baptist Church and was actively involved in several organizations, including the Boy Scouts of America, National Rifle Association, Yarab Shriners, Masons, the American Dental Association, and the Georgia Dental Association.
Dr. Bob will be remembered for his gentle spirit, strong work ethic, and unwavering love for his family
and community. His life was one of service, kindness, and quiet strength, and he will be deeply missed
by all who knew him.
