April 12, 1949 – March 31, 2026
Ronald Thomas Williams, Sr., aged 76, was called home to the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 31, 2026, in Atlanta, Georgia. A man of strength, integrity, and faith, Ron leaves behind a legacy defined by his service to his country and his devotion to his family.
Born in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, on April 12, 1949, Ron graduated from Elizabeth City High School in 1967. At the age of nine, at Salem Baptist Church, Ron made the most important decision of his life by putting his faith in Jesus Christ. Ron lived by the promise of his favorite verse, Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”
In 1968, Ron began his 25-year career in the United States Coast Guard. He served with honor and distinction, retiring in 1993 as a Chief Petty Officer (E-7).
On April 20, 1973, Ronald married the love of his life, Ella Clair Williams. Together, they built a life rooted in faith, family, and serving others. A long-time resident of the Georgia area, Ron and Clair have been faithful members of First Baptist Church Woodstock and previously Lost Mountain Baptist Church in Powder Springs.
Ronald’s greatest pride was his family. He is survived by his wife of nearly 53 years, Ella Clair Williams and his sons and daughters-in-law, Aaron (Nichole), Ron Jr. (Carla), and Adam (Rebecca). He was the proud "Poppy" to eight grandchildren: Aaleyah, Natalie, Harrison, Noah, Elliot, Nina, Ava, and Rosamund Williams. Nothing made Poppy happier than seeing all the activities his grandbabies were involved in doing. He loved being their Poppy and taking care of their pets.
He is also survived by his sister, Cathy Thompson (Clay Thompson and Amy Thompson), and his brother, Robert Craig Williams.
