Thomas C. Townsend Sr.

Thomas C. Townsend Sr., age 97, of Lawrenceville, Georgia passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2025. Thomas was born in Marietta, Georgia on March 20, 1928 to Thomas Lee Townsend and Daisy Patterson Townsend.

Thomas enjoyed being outdoors and camping. Solitaire kept him entertained when he wasn't fiddling with his short wave radio or showing his love for the lord by acting as a Sunday school teacher. He was a proud Air Force and Navy veteran and worked as a supply technician at Dobbins Air Force Base.

Thomas is preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife, Betty Jo Townsend; one brother; and one sister.

He is survived by his children, Thomas Townsend Jr. and Lynn Harris; grandchildren, Laurie Townsend, Jody Townsend, Amy Townsend, Mason Givens, Christopher Givens, Josh Harris, Jared Harris, and Jason Harris; five great grandchildren; Debbie Townsend  and Janet Townsend of Texas, Robert Pitts of Alabama, Diana Pitts of Marietta; aunt, Laura Barfield of Marietta; cousins, Donna Maloney, Judy Tinsley, and Mike Barfield; sister-in-law, Carol Akins; and several nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Thomas will be held Tuesday, March 25, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 2950 Cobb Parkway North, Kennesaw, GA 30152. A funeral service will occur following the visitation in the Winkenhofer Pine Ridge chapel. Thomas will be laid to rest in Pine Ridge Memorial Park.
