It is with profound sadness and extreme sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Barrett. Our beloved Barrett was born in Kenora, Ontario and lived in Whitedog all his life with his family.

He was predeceased by his mother Jessie (Nee Bunting) Smith and his step dad Albert Smith, his sister Allison Bunting, grandparents Colin & Mary Jane Paishk, Jim Bunting, uncles and aunts Raymond, Marcel, Beatrice, Roland, Colin Jr. Paishk & Josephine Bunting.

Barrett is survived by his father Gordon Bunting (Valene), his sister Ramona Bunting (Ron), his grandmother Mrs. Ida Bunting, nieces, Alyssa Bunting (Mizzen), Marcella Bunting (Rollie), Julie Bunting and his special grand nephew and nieces who he adored very much, “Big Guy” Leondre, Gwenie, Kalo and True, uncles and aunts Patrick Paishk (Wanda), Colleen Paishk, George Bunting (Mary T), Norman Bunting, Mary Bunting, John Bunting and James Bunting, first cousins, Marcel Quewezance, Liz Wesley and Brenda Bunting.

He is also survived by his first cousins: Fitz, Jessica (James) Sonny, Colin, Jamieson, Skylar, Candi B, Eric Bigblood, Melissa Kent (Walter), Gerald (Julia), Darcy (Jaycey), Rocky (Gretchen), Darlene (Larry), Jeffrey (Edna), Brandon (Judy), Jennifer (Mike), David B., Adrian, Ronnie, Harvey, Darnell, David K., Elaine K., Elaine McD, Nadine, Joni, Jazanne, John Jr, Jeonni, Mary Joanne and many more too numerous to mention.

Barrett loved spending time with friends and family. He loved Christmas the best, he played hockey, loved watching it too. Barrett loved shopping, sight-seeing, taking pictures, hunting and fishing. He was always up for an adventure. He loved joking around and he would crack up jokes at your saddest moments to make you laugh.

He also loved to support his family of their needs, he always put his family ahead of his needs. Barrett was a loving and understanding person.

Pallbearers will be his Neechies, Fitz Jamieson, Gerald Scott, Skylar Paishk, Darcy Quewezance, Jeffrey Bunting, Ronnie Bunting. Honourary pallbearers will be his family and best friends.

Wake Service will be held on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Whitedog Community Hall.

Traditional Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, August 03, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. at Whitedog Community Hall with interment to follow at Whitedog Cemetery.

The family of Barrett would like to say thank you to the people that have been there for them throughout his illness, the Lake of the Woods Paramedics, nurses and TBRHSC staff, Dr. Beveridge, Dr. D. Walters, Tummy, Mauricio Sr., Roanne, Dialysis staff for having Barrett in your unit and treating him as a family member,Chief and council, Roland Fisher, Wabaseemoong School, Uncle Patrick Paishk and to those who were with the family at Barrett’s final day and to those who helped Barrett prepare for his final journey.
