Blanche Theresa McGregor (nee Rochon) born June 26, 1922 passed away at her home (Pinecrest District Home for the Aged) on June 7, 2018 with her family by her side. She would have celebrated her 96th birthday on June 26th.
She was predeceased by her husband Howard, her daughter Robin, infant son Nelson, her brother Max, sister and brother-in-law Pat and Armand Benoit, her parents Gladys and Joseph Rochon.
She is survived by her five children Myrna Ralko (Fred), Melne Moore (Terry), Tim, Greg and Shawn. Also surviving are her seven grandchildren Gillian (Jay), Regan (Devin and Raegan), Denum, Jared, Lauren (Devon), Zachary (Kinder) and Mykala (Blair); great grandchildren Taylor (Kenny), Spencer and Jordan. She also leaves behind the Benoit family who were a second family to her.
Blanche will always remembered as "Gramma Boo". Her greatest love and joy were "her lake and her family". She was a devote Catholic and life time member of the St. Louis C.W.L.
Blanche was a stay at home mom lovingly raising her large family. She lived all her life in Keewatin never straying off of Front Street (THE BAY CITY CORNER).
Not only did Blanche have guts in card games but she maintained that quality throughout her whole life.
She will be missed by her special friends Marion Moore, Charlie and Bernie Howatt, Vicki Queen, Mary Ortlieb, Sandi Gummeson, Ruby Shankowsky, Sandi Moss, Jean Devlin and the Devlin Girls.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to all the Pinecrest Staff, Nurse Practionier Mike Limerick (A GOD SEND), Dr. Michelle Thomas, Sheri Wilson, Jan Brucks, Lise Dupere and, of course, her "other" daughter Melissa Hall. Thank you also to Cory Jinkerson from Brown's Funeral Home for helping with the final details.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Louis Church, Keewatin, with Father Allan officiating. A luncheon will follow the service in the parish hall. A private graveside service will be held in the Lake of the Woods Cemetery on Tuesday afternoon.
In lieu of flowers and if friends wish donations can be made to the Pinecrest Ladies Auxiliary, c/o Pinecrest Home for the Aged, 1220 Valley Drive, Kenora, Ontario P9N 2W8
