Brian Matthew Fobister

November 15, 1983 – June 23, 2026

Brian Fobister, a resident of Grassy Narrows First Nation passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital.

He was predeceased by his father Simon Fobister, father-in-law Quentin Quoquot, brothers Leroy Fobister, Stedman Loon, Sterling Burky, his grandparents Mary Lydia Pahpasay, Tom Payash, Camille and Amanda Fobister. He was also predeceased by his uncles Isaac Pahpasay, Gordon Pahpasay and Ross Loon, aunts Elizabeth Pahpasay, Jane Pahpasay, Harriet Pahpasay and Marilyn Loon, as well as his cousins Cindy Pahpasay, Corina Skead, Caitlyn Skead, Wanda Loon, Juni Fobister and sister-in-law Janice Assin.

He is survived by his mother Lucy Fobister, his spouse Tasha Loon, brothers Kari, Ben (Jessica), Brentt (Cayla), Clayton (Jolena), Travis, Derek, his nieces and nephews Linda, River, Akellies, Jesse, Riel, Banaise, Mason, Josey, Beckham, Jayde, Patience and many other nieces and nephews too numerous to mention.

He will also be missed by his uncles and aunts Raphael (Barbara), Maybel (Ed), Thomas and Mervin. His cousins Pwaan, Fawn, Laura, Bear, Chipp, Elayne, Holly, Ryan, Pawnee, Anjelica, Darrian, Gordeania, Pierre, Isiah, Taryn, Cori, maverick, Harrison, Travis F, Bruce, Wendy, Andrew, Denise, Miranda (Chad), Anita (Jason), Yolanda (Gerry), Amanda, Melissa (Terry), Michael and Izzy (Tashena). His mother-in-law Charlotte Loon, sister and brothers-in-law Susan, Ashley, Chasity, Maybelline, Cheyanne, Jed and Stacy. He will be greatly missed by his best friends Joshua and Mario Pahpasay and Gregory Sneaky. He will be missed the most by his cats Luna and Dream and his dogs Chief, Rufus and Spock.

Brian enjoyed fishing, being outdoors when he could. He also enjoyed playing games and was a very proud owner of his fur babies.

Wake service will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 beginning at 11:00am at Agnes Fisher’s Building. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at 12:00pm at Agnes Fisher’s Building with interment to follow in Grassy Narrows First Nation.
