We are deeply saddened to announce Carla was suddenly and tragically taken away from us in a house fire in Grassy Narrows.

Carla is survived by her children Dreyson, Paul, Kian, Dayunyss, and Georges children K’nadi fi, Nicolas, Geogette, Sierra, Danielle, Afani, Mason and Mariucz. Her partner George (Rosster), parents Clara, Andrew Keewatin (Lorna), siblings Carolyn, Cayla (Brentt), Joseph, nieces and nephews Jermaine, Ayana (Kyle) Chavez, Cale and Cielle, aunties Linda (Wayne), Eveleen, Susan, Rita (Fred) and Brenda, uncles Larry, Ivan and David, cousins Charlie, Evelyn, Brenda (Pook), Levi, Larry K jr., Dion, Virgil, Cody, Callahan, Vlad, Henry, Felix, Phoenix, Dalton, Lemeeka, Derck, Greg, Todd, Kendra, Lucy, Steph, Rita, Ryan, John C., Beech, Patricia, Adam, Feather, Stella and Jenny.

Carla is predeceased by her grandparents Joseph John Kokokopenace, Lucy Kokokopenace (Perrault), Andrew Keewatin Sr. (Nora Sneaky) and Janet Keewatin, daughter Eternity, aunties Jessie Assin, Ivy Keewatin, and Sandra, uncles Gabriel, Daniel, Danny K and Simon, cousins Donovan, Jeff, Penny, Shirley and Shawntel.

Carla was a loving mother and very family oriented. She was fiercely protective of her children and family. She loved her community and had a great sense of humour. She truly enjoyed doing arts and crafts such as sewing and beading as well as fishing. She loved going to the casino and playing bingo and cribbage.

Carla graduated from Con College/Oshki as a personal support worker and was looking forward to working at Mercury home.

A Wake Service will be held at Agnes Fisher’s Building Grassy Narrows, Ontario on Saturday, September 26, 2026 at 3:00 pm. Funeral Service will be held at Agnes Fisher’s Building in Grassy Narrows, Ontario on Monday, September 28, 2026, at 10:00 am with burial to follow in Grassy Narrows.
