Daniel Munns

Dan was born and raised in Kenora, Ontario.

He was predeceased by his father Daniel D. Munns Sr.

He is survived by his daughter Sarah Munns, mother Lucille Munns, brother Ronald Munns, sisters Denise Raymond, brother in law Marc Raymond and his niece Shelayne, Elaine Friesen, brother in law Darryl Friesen, two nephews Kyle and Ryan Friesen, he was a cousin and nephew to a large extended family and was close to many as family meant a lot to Dan.

You’d often find him sitting with a coffee or watching the maple leafs hockey games in his spare time. Daniel loved canoeing and travelling across Canada with his daughter Sarah, especially in the mountains. Daniel loved to spend his time with his family, skiing, hunting and fishing on Lake of the Woods. He has made lasting friendships with almost everyone he has met, he is described as being a light in life. Daniel will be forever deeply loved by his family and friends, and will be greatly missed by everyone ‘until we meet again’.

A carpenter by trade. Dan belonged to the Local 1669 Carpenters and Joiners Union, he spent many years working on countless jobs in the surrounding areas, usually with a fishing rod on hand for the evening fish.

Dan was diagnosed with the cancer in February of 2022, being a very aggressive cancer it has been remarkable to see Dan’s strength and his will to live. He fought hard but although he ‘outlived’ the estimated time he was given, he lost his battle on the first day of Summer 2023. ‘The Sunset was a lot different that evening, as we had to accept a World without our beloved Daniel’.

The family would like to thank Thunder Bay Regional Health Science Centre Cancer Care, the Lake of the Woods District Hospital Char and Brenda, and all the amazing nurses and staff who’s care and concern was very evident throughout Dan’s last days, we would also like to thank the Chemotherapy Department and all the support staff. The family would also like to thank Cory and staff from Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre for helping to make this process as smooth as possible in making final arrangements for our loved one.

Dan, your wings were ready but our hearts were not!

Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date.
