Daniel (Butch) Williams left on his final journey to be with his Lord on June 16th, 2026, surrounded by his family. Dan was born in Thunder Bay District of Old Fort William September 5th, 1937.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 63 years Loretta Williams, daughter Judith Williams, granddaughter Morgan, great grandson Tyson (Sierra) and great-great grandson Kaiden, great granddaughter Bella, granddaughter Kaila, great grandsons Landon, Kaiden and Jaxson; Son Daniel Williams (Janice), granddaughter Caitlin (Christos), great grandson Ozzy and great granddaughter Quinn, grandson Jordan (Lisle); Daughter Sandra Zurkan (Todd), grandson Blaine (Michelle), and grandson Owen (Kyra).
He is predeceased by his mother Marguerite Williams, his older brother Ronald and his wife Annice Williams. He is survived by his brother and sister William (Hoffie) and Murrie Hoffmeister as well as many sister/brother in laws, nieces, nephews and friends.
The family would like to extend a special mention to dad’s nephew Ron Williams Jr. for the regular check ins and visits but especially for the loads of dry firewood to warm his uncles heart and body. Dad also wanted to thank Judy Lunam for all the delicious baked treats giving him something to look forward to on Thursday’s.
The family would also like to acknowledge the care dad received from his medical team, Susan Lacroix and Mike Limmerick. Thank you for always brightening dad’s day with your excellent care and home visits. Thank you to the staff, nurses, Charlene Meillo, and James (spiritual coordinator) on 2 East at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital for our support and care during dads last days. Thank you to Father Rudy for praying over dad and bringing peace to his family.
A celebration of life will be held at the Notre Dame Catholic Church on Saturday June 27th, 2026 at 10:00am. A light lunch will be held following the service in the downstairs hall of the church. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating towards the Lake of the Woods District Hospital Foundation or Notre Dame Catholic Church.
