Darren was born in Kenora, Ontario on April 14, 1972.
It is with very heavy hearts that the family of Darren Joseph that we announce his sudden passing from a long battle of health issues. He was surrounded by his family at the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital on April 17,2026. Darren was 54 years of age. He was a resident of Noatkamegwanning First Nation.
Darren is predeceased by his father Carl Tuesday, his Brother’s Vernon Tuesday, Melvin Joseph, nephew Charles Joseph, Niece Janine Joseph, maternal Grandparents Charles and Mae Joseph.
Darren is survived by his mother Mary Helen Joseph, wife Julie and their daughter Jaryn, his sons Pierston, Riley, Brendan and Dylan.
Darren was a devoted father, a devoted husband to his common-law wife Julie, and to his grandchildren Emily, Amber, Alexis and Lyrix Joseph, Kessel Redsky-Joseph, brother Patrick Joseph, Carl (Zig) & Kevin Tuesday, sisters Rosemary, Elaine Joseph and Virgina Tuesday. He also has numerous cousins that he considered brothers and sisters, nieces Ginnette, Tara (J.D.) nephews Damian (Reena), Curtis, William and Aldo whom he cherished. We would like to apologize if anyone was missed.
Darren was an avid hockey fan of the Edmonton oilers, collected Oilers memorabilia and other Oiler collectibles. He very much looked forward to all Oilers hockey games which was very exciting for him. His friends and family would gift him Edmonton Oilers collectibles.
Darren had a gifted voice as a powwow singer and was well known in the powwow trail. In his healthier early years, Darren was always away during the summers travelling all over the States and Canada at powwows. While at a powwow, Darren was always hopeful to see his favourite singer, Harvey Dreaver. He sang with many drum groups. More so, being a proud member of the Northern Wind singers and later with Hanisha.
He loved fishing during winter and summer months he knew the lake so well. As a young lad, he would go commercial fishing with his mother, aunt Catherine and bro Melvin. This is when he caught on his experience with Lake of the Woods. He loved watching baseball and watching various T.V shows. His favorite pastime was walking the trails in the bush where he considered spent as leisure time. His favorite thing to snack on was macintosh apples Darren never wanted to be without his macintosh apples.
At this time, The Family would like to say thank you to Lake of the Woods District Hospital as well as the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital especially Dr. Roberto who took good care of him along with his 2 assistants and his nurse Nadia.
Family would like to extend a very special thank you to the staff at Mino’Gizhigad elders centre especially to Darlene Joseph, Winter White and Mary Lorraine Mandamin who worked closely with Darren and for expressing their love and concern for him.
A big Thank you also to the indigenous navigators KCA staff: Donna Namaypoke, Heather Andy and Bobby Mandamin for your hard work at making things possible, at the Lake of the woods District Hospital for all their help when needed, the Indigenous Care Coordinators at Thunder Bay Regional especially Annette for the touching ceremonies for Darren. Family would also, like to Thank the staff at Netaawgonebiik Health Services and Naotkamegwanning FN Band ofc. for all the help when needed for Darren.
