Diane was predeceased by her parents Charlie and Alice Fisher, her sister Josephine and baby brother Joseph, her paternal grandparents Peter and Sophia Fisher, maternal grandparents James Sr. and Jane Bunting, nieces, Stephanie, Angel and Katie, her cousin Elmer Fisher who she was very close too and the numerous family relatives too who passed before Diane.
She is survived by her children Cecil, Cyrena and Clarissa (Donovan), her grandchildren Mikheala, Cassidy, Summer, Serenity, Honor, Courage, Eric, Andrea, Bethany, Autumn (Zachary), Laura (Courage), Jade, Donovan Jr., Alexander, her great grandchildren Leo, Jace and Zendaya, her sisters Catherine and Ann (Ted) and her brother William (Karen). As well as nieces and nephews Mikey (Diana), Rose, Jackie (Erwin), Juanita, Jonathan, Rosella (Kevin), Steve (Helena), Ryan (Nicole), Evan (Colleen), Heather (Aaron), Tyler, Angie, Amelia (Matt), Cheyenne and Elias and Annie Boyd, as well as any other family members not mentioned . As well as many grand nieces and nephews too numerous to mention, but loved them all.
Diane had many friends that she loved, Mama loved watching baseball, volleyball, hockey, curling, Pow-wows, golf and tennis. She had fond memories of her trip to Mount Rushmore with family. She is a survivor of residential school and battled against Diabetes.
The family would like to thank the Kenora Dialysis Unit, Birchwood Terrace Nursing Home, Naotkamegwanning First Nation, Elders Complex, Medical Driver and the Health Staff, we would also like to thank her PSW Arvel White and Kathy Kishiqueb for advocating on behalf of Diane.
The family would like to acknowledge the Onigaming Chief and Council and Community, all of the cooks, helpers and everyone who made time to help the family through this difficult time.
Pall bearers will be Whitebear Copenace, Eagle Copenace, Roger Allan, Andrew Letander (Lil Joe), and Kevin Copenace.
Honorary pallbearers will be Diane Windego, Inger Calder, Mary Letander, Rosella Fisher, Magi Skead, Virginia BigGeorge, Dorothy Copenace and Corrine Kelly (Boochie).
Visitation will be held at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Monday, May 10, 2021 from 3:00 - 7:00 pm. Traditional wake service will be held on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 beginning at 3:00 pm at the Onigaming School Gymnasium. Traditional funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 beginning at 10:00 am with the service being officiated by Elder Ron Indian Mandamin, burial will follow at Lake of the Woods Cemetery.
