April 18, 1967 – November 24, 2019
With profound sadness we share that Dwight slipped away peacefully in the arms of his loving partner Melanie at the Lake of The Woods district hospital in Kenora, ON after an intense but courageous battle with metastatic pancreatic cancer.
He is survived by his spouse of 16 years, Melanie, and their two sons Evan and Aiden. Along with his Mother Judy, Sister Claudine. Grandmother Nora Froehlich , Auntie Linda McMillan, Uncle Alvin (Eileen) Froehlich, God parents - Uncle Andre (Eveline) St. Hilaire, Aunt Cecile Vermette, Aunt Lorraine St. Hilaire and Aunt Carmelle (Roland) Gagnon. He is also survived by many loving in-laws and dear friends too numerous to mention.
He is predeceased by his father Gerard St. Hilaire, Grandparents Arthemise and Pierre St. Hilaire, Grandfather Fred Froehlich, Mother in Law Linda Orosz, Uncle John McMillan, Uncle Gerard Vermette and Uncle Ken Neumann.
Dwight was born in Kenora, although spent most of his childhood in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He cherished his memorable childhood and times spent with his parents, sister, grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins, of which he shared many stories.
Dwight was a man of action, always on the go! He had a knack for building and design and he always managed to figure things out. He was a bit of a MacGyver, if you will.
Dwight was the quintessential father, partner, son, and friend, unwavering in his devotion. Even in his final days with us, he made us laugh with his quick wit and keen sense of humour. Dwight’s ability to connect with people was very gentle and unassuming. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
We would like to thank all of our incredible family and friends for the outpouring of love and support we have been given. We would also like to thank Dr. Brad Kyle, Dr. Diamond, Dr. Retson, Dr. Carlisle and Dr.Lipschitz (Winnipeg), all of the amazing third floor nurses who cared for Dwight during his hospital stays and the lovely nurses in the chemo department who were so kind and supportive. You all made a very difficult situation a little easier and for that we are eternally grateful.
Arrangements are being handled by Brown’s funeral home and a private graveside internment will take place at a later date. A come and go celebration of Dwight’s life will be held in the warmer months.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the children’s education/ trust accounts by seeing or contacting Vanessa Nowe at the Royal Bank 1-807-467-4735.
“May the winds of heaven blow softly and whisper in your ear.
