November 29, 1925 - November 12, 2018
With her family by her side Edith passed away peacefully at the age of 92 at Pinecrest home.
Predeceased by husband William Brough and second husband Charles Brough, mother Violet Willis, Sister Evelyn Warlow, brother Ken Warlow, son Ronald Brough, infant granddaughters Tracy and Kimberly Brough, grandsons Marin Bergman and Richard Smolak.
Edith leaves to cherish her memory sister Lillian Young, daughters Judith Harbor (Don),
Linda Green, sons Ted and Tim (Lori), daughter-in-law Nora Brough, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
With her mother and two sisters at a young age Edith moved from Anola, MB to Fort William ON. Out of necessity she started working at 11 years old as a mothers’ helper while attending school. She later worked at Car Canada on the assembly line.
Edith married William Brough in 1946 and started her family in Sioux Narrows, later moving to logging camps and finally settling in Kenora.
She was well known by many from her employment at Woolworths on Main Street in Kenora, then moving on to work as receptionist at Dr. Nortons chiropractic office for many years. Edith had a love for music and played piano, organ and accordion to name a few. If she heard a tune she could play it, never taking credit for how good she really was. When Edith retired she took a special interest in the Kenora Legion Branch 12 ladies auxiliary. Along with her daughter Judy many functions were shared and enjoyed. She served in many positions on the ladies auxiliary including Vice President and President. She went on to carry colors and became Sergeant-At-Arms. She was very proud to lead the colors. Ediths’ family meant everything to her and she was in her element when she had them with her for meals and special occasions. She loved baking, gardening, knitting, and the outdoors. She would never pass up an invitation to spend the day on the lake fishing.
Edith entered Pinecrest December 29, 2017 with Lewy Body Alzheimer’s.
We would like to thank all the staff at Pinecrest home for the excellent care they gave mom during her time there.
