Mr. Edward Harvey Wilson

away on March 21, 2009, the first day of Spring, in Norman, a small

community of Kenora, at the age of 43 years old.

He is strongly remembered by his two children Jennifer and Edward

Wilson, parents Ed and Kathleen Wilson,

sisters Kathleen Black and husband Frank - children Michelle and

Jacqueline, Susanna Kehl - children Ryan and Jason, Jill-Edie

Pedneault and husband Grant, Elizabeth Slusarcyk and husband Shane -

children Cameron, Christopher and Zachary, fiancé Evonne Kozak, and

many other family members including cousins and aunts and uncles.

Edward, or “Eddie” to his closest friends and family, was born on the

fourth of October 1965, at Lake of the Woods Hospital at eight

o'clock in the evening, and was raised in Jones, Ontario north of

Kenora at his parents' tourist camp on Rocky Lake. He was the

youngest of five children and the only boy, deeming him as

spoiled in his childhood. Eddie loved his peanut butter and jelly

sandwiches and oatmeal chocolate chip cookies and would often get

scolded for indulging in them, especially before meals, so employees

of Rocky Lake Camps would sneak them to Eddie so he wouldn't get

caught by his parents whipping up a sandwich or sticking his hand in

the cookie jar.

At a young age Eddie was brought on several hunting and fishing trips

with his father and other friends and relatives, which taught him to

be the dedicated outdoorsman that everyone remembers. He grew to love

hunting, but was a true fisherman at heart, and started guiding the

guests of Rocky Lake when he was just 12 years old. He knew rivers

such as the English and Wabigoon like the back of his hand and could

navigate with his eyes closed, leading his boat to the best fishing

spots where guests would always catch their limit so they could later

feast on his famous shore lunches including fresh fish, homemade

onion rings and spaghetti. When Eddie became a father he made sure

that his children, especially his son, “Little Eddie”, were as

passionate about the outdoors as he was,

and began teaching them how to hunt and most importantly, fish!

Besides hunting and fishing, Eddie loved to play hockey and

started playing in Kenora at a young age, earning him many medals and

trophies to display. He was a skilled skater and would spend every

winter with a hockey stick in hand, teaching his children how to

skate. Eddie would also love spending time in Chicago when he was

younger, with friends he had made that had visited Rocky Lake, taking

a jet there and travelling all over the city, giving him the taste of

a big city. But Eddie always returned home, because Rocky Lake was in

his blood.

As he got older, Eddie also had a knack for logging and would spend

many hours at the family mill and slashing in the bush,

turning out many cords of wood that would be sent to Kenora's mills.

He was never afraid to be alone in the bush slashing or

cutting wood and preferred it that way so he would have no

distractions. He loved machines of all sorts and sizes, whether it

was his slasher, a good boat and motor, his many red Dodge trucks, or

his pride and joy, his first 4x4 red and white truck when he was a

teenager.

Eddie was a great father and teacher and spent a lot of time with

Jennifer and Edward during their younger years, teaching them

everything he was taught, like the much needed skills of hunting and

fishing. Little Eddie loved hunting and fishing as much as his father

did and would accompany his father on many outings, whether a simple

father-son trip or a day of guiding with guests. Jennifer enjoyed

fishing with her father as well, but her fondest memories of her

father were when he would take her ice skating, build things with her

in the garage, and let her sit with him while he skinned the many

animals that guests brought in on the very baits that Eddie set himself.

Eddie Wilson may be gone from this earth, but he now lives through

his children, parents, sisters and the rest of his family that hold

his precious memories in their hearts. He still brings a smile to

each and every face that has crossed paths with him in his

unfortunately brief lifetime. We will remember his laugh, his smile,

his accomplishments and his simplistic way of living. We will always

remember the loving father, son, brother, fiancé, uncle, and cousin

that was uncouthly taken from us. Every day he will be with us in our

hearts and in our vibrant and loving memories.

We all love and miss you terribly.

A Celebration of Edward's Life through a Memorial Service will be

held on Saturday, April 11, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Rocky Lake Camps in

the store for Eddie's close friends and family. Friends and

family of Eddie are welcome to come and enjoy some of Eddie's

favourites including shore lunch, cashews, and peanut butter and

jelly sandwiches in a come and go ceremony in his memory.
