Grace Kakeeway

Grace was born in Kenora Ontario and spent the majority of her life in Wazhushk Onigum First Nation. She loved spending time with family, which meant the world to her. She also enjoyed shopping and slipping a 5 or 10 to her great nieces/nephews in a handshake. She took joy watching movies, traveling and spending time at powwows.

She is predeceased by both her parents, Doreen Ogemah and Peter Abraham/Kakeway. She is also predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Marjorie (Councillor), Jessie (Ogemah), Freddy (Kakeeway), and Julia(major) as well as her partner Tom Fraser.

She will be remembered by her son Ricky Kakeway (Rick Richlef). She also had a daughter she gave up for adoption named Carol Doreen Kakeway but never stopped looking for her.

Grace had many nieces and nephews, some still living, all special to her heart, Derek (Redsky), Doreen (Lillian Clarke), Julie (Clarke), Charles (Clarke), Joel ('spike Councillor), Christopher (Councilor) Norman, Isaac, Willie and Rodney Abraham of Fort Alex, Manitoba.

As well as many great nieces and nephews, Jessica (Clarke-Fraser), Davidson (Clarke-Fraser), Ryan (Clarke), Eddy (Kerch), Alex (Clarke) as well as great-great nieces and great-great nephews, Noah, Aubrie, Layna, Layla, Arlo, Noah, Adrian. As well as countless cousins, Joey (Ogemah), Langford (Ogemah), & The Gardener Family in Eagle Lake.

We apologize as the family has never had a clear picture of family tree, Grace and Jessica were working on it together before she passed trying to gather information and piece together the puzzle. If you happen to be a "missing piece" or have correct information, feel free to reach out to Jessica (807-407-0515) This would have made Grace very happy. A Wake Service will be held at the Youth and Elder Centre in Rat Portage, Ontario, on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, beginning at 1:00 pm. Funeral Service at the Youth and Elder Centre in Rat Portage, Ontario, on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, beginning at 10:00 am with burial to follow in Rat Portage First Nation.
