Isaac Kabestra
July 31, 1939 – March 20, 2020
It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Isaac Kabestra at the Pinecrest Nursing Home on March 20, 2020.
Left to mourn his loss are his children, Clifford Swain (Jackie Swain), Douglas Swain (Rhonda Keesick) and Dallas Swain (Joanne Assin); his sister, Velma Geddes from Edmonton; his grandsons, Clifford Ashopenace (Christine Strong), Shantell Swain, Callahan Swain, Vladimir Swain (Tabitha Fobister), Kevin Strong (Tina Necanepenance); his grand-daughters, Violet Shopenace (Keon Fobister), Tammy Loon (Travis Fobister), Roxanne Fobister (Loon) (Mike Fobister), and Caroline Swain (Sherman Kabestra). Isaac will be greatly missed by many nieces and nephews, too many to mention.
He is predeceased by his loving wife, Kathleen Swain; children, Philliip Swain, Ina Swain, Clarence Swain, Colleen Swain and Phyllis Swain; his grandson, Ernie Swain; his granddaughters Mandi Loon and Marlene Taylor.
Isaac Kabestra, although from another reserve, lived in Grassy Narrows all his life. As a profession he was a master carpenter with a certificate. Isaac loved to go fishing, hunting and was also a master trapper. In summer months we would work for Barney Lamm of Ball Lake Lodge, when Ball Lake Lodge was in operation.
A Wake Service will take place at the Trappers Building on Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at 3 p.m. A Traditional Service will take place on Thursday, March 26, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. Burial to follow service.
